These are posts to mount the new solar panel installation for the DPW campus. It will provide about 5% of the power needs of the Waste Water Treatment Plant. It will change the view too of the scenic road as you approach the slalom course.
It’s a sunny location.
The location of the array right out in the open, not hidden behind a berm, or tucked out of sight, is significant.
It may signal a true embrace of solar which does require a large footprint to insure efficacy.
The Town of Duxbury, MA just selected a solar solution over wind. Here is a link to that story from the Boston Globe
Duxbury, perhaps just being Duxbury, has opted for an out of town solar farm. They have a beautiful beach if you have never visited.
The Town of Exeter wrestled with this decision a bit and initially nixed the Revolution Energy proposal last July. This past Fall with new numbers we decided to move forward. Revolution installed the High School field array.
The DPW yard will get lots of political visits I bet.
They should prepare with a perfect photo op pad.
Jimmy Carter was qualified to command a nuclear submarine.
I hope we accelerate the deployment of solar panels, the Water Street Elderly Housing Complex seems to have a roof angle well suited to an installation. A few years ago a fellow installed a wind turbine at his home on Drinkwater Road, it made quite a news splash. The handful of times that I have driven past the blades are at rest. When you drive out of Boston on the Tobin there is a huge wind turbine in Chelsea that never seems to be turning. Medford, MA has installed a wind turbine along I93. I only just read that story online, here is a comment on that story from a fellow Granite Stater weighing in with his two cents.
“It is a thing of beauty…Now for the solar panels on the roof of the school.
I look at it as giving the finger to OPEC!
\Way to go Medford..

PS to all you bird lovers…why don’t you let them pay your taxes..GET A LIFE”
Perhaps Mike from Salem grew up in Mehfuh.
Stupid bird lovers!
Comments, I love them, especially the railing this week over sobriety checkpoints on Patch. WMUR has some terrific comment traffic too.
Here is the original RFP for the DPW Solar array to keep you appraised of this project moving forward.
I understand we can own it/purchase it after 1o years.
