This morning I read the latest news regarding the conflict in Georgia . It just did not ring true to me. I was also reading some political sites on Obama & McCain . Google had this article up this am.

Can you imagine returning to the Cold War? Or something worse? I bet there are plenty that would have no problem with that scenario. So, I type in my search bar “Georgia war a fake war”

Bingo.

UPDATE AUG 12

Well the war is over , sorta. They made their point. Last night on MSNBC they threw up a map to better illustrate the conflict. Some are making the point that Georgia must have lost their mind to mess with Russia. The map was dated, it was before the breakup of the Soviet Union. The better story to run is the one about how America could not control, nor assist, one of it’s outposts of democracy. We are stretched to the limits. Even if we had the the manpower , we have no stomach for engagement with Russia. I don’t for sure, count me in that group. Russia won big on this one and it was over in 5 days.

Hardball with Chris Matthews has a guest on that must have said 3 time that Putin was no longer President. This is Hardball and along with all the other talking heads shows I don’t watch it was a sophomoric discussion. You should know by now that the media thinks you are all stupid.

The 24 hours of Portsmouth NH in the Sunday paper ( for which I have a subscription) was waste of newsprint.

Enjoy the Olympics

That opening ceremony was a new form of Shock & Awe. The ABC commentators were reading from a script. Oh by the way I thought the show was epic. One line though stuck. I have tried to find a script to post it accurately. It was now a four hour show so even video is tough to find, only snippets. The commentator quoted a Chinese tactic or philosophy. “We go down this road a little way to obscure our true direction” I think my recollection is correct at least as to the gist. Mostly American Contractors supplied the security apparatus to the Chinese, something like 60,000 cameras. I bet they won’t be coming down after the fun stops.

Here is something to save you some gas this week. Slow down!

Thanks Mike - I tried this out this morning. My car showed that I had
165 miles left on my tank when I left Exeter. I drove on cruise control
at 68 mph for about 43 miles. When I arrived at work, I still had 155
miles left on my tank. There must be an averaging calculation and by
doing the speed limit, I seriously increased my mileage capacity. I'm a
believer!
