In January I posted on the Big Pipe, now dead. The post included a suggestion for the Village at the close. “Planning for twenty years out?” is the post. Check the archives here on the Crier. The latest vision article from the Village is interesting. Personally I don’t believe it’s large enough in scope. It really is not a Town Center proposal, with lasting impact. It also does not address the need for business to be visible. The committee is cautious in their comments as to developers hewing to some standard. That is too bad really that attitude. You can’t build another Castles project which failed on Rt 27 for many reasons. Probably moving forward we will venture out in cars less frequently and consolidate trips. Although if the price of gas drops we will go right back to zipping around and a collective whew will be heard. Until the next crisis. So a Town Center works much better than another strip mall. They need to think in a grand fashion, more on the scale of their Fire Station.
