I was kind of surprised to see Maggie Hassan’s defense of the paving project proposed with stimulus monies. You might have missed it in the paper. A letter to the editor last week or so. Many have remarked to me that the road surface look fine. I agree. It just seems to be project with no real snap to it. It would be better to fix Route 101. The fix I propose is the the deadly hill before the Route 101, Route 95 exit, eastbound. I have mentioned it before and yesterday I saw fresh skid marks at the crest. Once you pass over 111 you can really floor it as there are no places for radar, until you crest that hill. Then you are possibly confronted by a line of cars exiting to 95 or a Hampton/ State Police squad parked down at the bottom of the hill. Its that imminent rear end accident, or whopping ticket that produces the skids. The DOT spokesman has said that the hill was a product of no more money when they finished that stretch. Instead of paving the DOT should do something to prevent what could be a horrific accident. We have been lucky . Oh by the way the ramp to 95 , the inside, on the grass. It’s littered with beer bottles. The guy or gal bearing down on you stopped in line over the crest could be one of the bottle tossers. He or she also could be texting, talking on their cell, adjusting their GPS or simply unfamiliar with the area.
Make sure you exercise caution when approaching that hill. The sign I once asked for warning people of the danger has not been deployed since the last time it appeared. In lieu of fixing this oversight in highway design the sign should be redeployed.
