A recent editorial in the Newsletter states that we have do not enough workforce housing. Here are some numbers.
The # of Mobile Homes = 1,048; the # of Resi Condo's = 941; and the # of
apartment properties not individual units = 323.
Total of all properties in Town is 6,200.
Mike,
Is the point here that you agree or disagree? I’m not sure. I do think a large proportion of those mobile homes are elderly housing, and I don’t know that all those residential condos fall into the workforce category (the Mills?). Personally, I don’t think rent limits work – in fact, study after study shows they don’t. The only way to build affordable housing is to build housing that the market treats as affordable. After all, isn’t pretending our paycheck allows us a bigger/better home than it does part of the problem?
