The past several  weeks the JCR Construction Co. of Raymond NH has been working in my area. They are engaged as  a sub contractor for Unitil. The job is to replace power lines with  taller poles and more robust transmission lines. Look up if you are in the area. These new lines  are very beefy. Coupled with the tree work that was done the new lines will prove very resistant to ice storms. A large limb  would never bring down this line. The new line will also cure those annoying power drops. The little ones that reset your computer but not your stove clock.

I have had a chance to observe this crew for some time and they  deserve to be commended. Unitil as well did a superb job selecting this company to perform the work.

The  crew also includes young men  and they are watched over by a foreman. I have seen the foreman  take the time to  instruct the crew. This  extends to the proper manner to coil rope , so it drops easily with no tangles from the bucket truck. Small thing? I disagree. This company obviously takes  tremendous pride in their work and their hires. They wear uniforms too, I like that. That   it seems is  a forgotten  component  of team building for many companies involved in such work. They work with safety at the forefront  and  make a point to  always discuss what they are doing before raising that bucket. All their equipment  is in  top condition as well. We are most fortunate to have them working in Town.

See that  screen  on the trailer? When the operator  is standing on the trailer that would protect him if the line should snap. No, not the power line, that is rope used to pull the line.
