This is the link to  an online TV channel for Portsmouth, a local effort. Community television and it’s promise has not really been fulfilled. It’s tough  I guess writing  a charter, making  sure content does not offend. I don’t find weeks of the Christmas parade  or HS graduation  offensive, just boring. So these fellows in Portsmouth  have got something cooking, online. Andy our tireless and largely unpaid community tv guy and Town IT guy to boot, has tried. We had for a short time  the ability  to use a similar wed based platform to view video on our Town web site. It is impossible to control content to  a community standard on another  site, or what you may see when looking for the next water break video. So we had to dump it  here in Exeter.

I like newspapers, magazines, books and radio, and yes, tv. They are all vitally important. People  will tell you “oh I get all my news on the web” “I will  just read it online” “It’s a kindle” ” A  what?” I just had another guy tell me he was canceling his newspaper subscription(Boston Globe). Now more than ever you need  more sources of news  analysis.

Maybe this  web based  format  would be a fun diversion  moving forward. Check out a clip from their on demand menu on Portsmouth  Community TV. Steve has some sage advice  for us all.
