So the dry cleaner is stuck with your old tweed jacket, your funeral suit, wedding suit, old rug, comforters. I was dropping off some suits today and noticed a lot of cleaning to be picked up. It’s not a storage facility. Think about it just for a minute , he cleaned the garment, and now months later no pickup?Does he have to sell your old suit? The water flowed from the taps, the toilets flushed, the cops patrolled, the snow was removed,Library, Teachers showed up,Firemen at the ready, Town Hall services. It was all provided. The bill due however for some got pushed to the side. Placing a lien even applying interest is not a deterrent. It is not necessary nor prudent to be tippy toeing around this problem. Bobby Aldrich was thanked for bringing this up at last Mondays Selectmen meeting. Thanked, geesh. Is there some other service you can think of that would suffer such behavior? Taxes are owed going back to 2005, that is before the “troubles” It is the job of Government to collect that money. It is vital that the Community support their efforts in this pursuit. Don’t go all squishy on this one, 3.5 million dollars in receivables is too high for this Town.
