I asked Bobby Aldrich our Selectman to provide some examples of just how much this revenue means to the Town. The 2009 taxes owed are still late, despite some construing a “window” The problem is the window has been getting bigger every year.
We could,
Fund the entire operations of the Police Dept for one year. (3.15 million)
Fund the Fire Dept for one year(3.40 million)
Public Works one year excluding building maintenance (3.30million)
Almost completely fund the Water & Sewer operations for one year (3.80 million)
All the operations of the Town Office for 2 years (3.66 million for 2 years)
Library completely funded for more than 4 years (3.22million)
With what is owed for Water & Sewer bills alone 1.45 million- we could almost fund all sewer operations(1.59 million)
The list which is public is available for perusal at Town Hall. Anyone that I have spoken to regarding this is very upset. This must be faced head on and the money collected. The Chairman Mr Campbell has to place this on the agenda and sit up straight when discussing it with the Town.

Mike,
Interesting area of town government. Actually more than interesting. Selectman Aldrich is doing a good job. Although the Newsletter published the story, I have to wonder why the Exeter Tax Collector was not mentioned or quoted.
