We bought  5 ( get 5 free)  Lindt bars  at the temporary(?) retail store on Portsmouth Ave. They were for stocking stuffers, and I see we have 3 left. I like the chocolate, as do others hereabouts, obviously.

I remember the old days at  Lindt. The   seconds store  was in the factory, you went up some stairs. That retail space  made  at least a little effort. That was when the lore of bag began.  “Oh I heard  Flo  has a blow dryer in her car,it runs off her cigarette lighter” “What?”  “Yea, she  has  previously copped a few bags  and heats them before entering the store” “Oh I just blow in the bag, works just  as good”. I remember seeing gals working  that bag to make sure  that there was as many Truffles as possible in that bag. It was fun to watch. That was the deal then, as many as you could  jam in the bag. Funny. 10 bucks a bag as long as they could close the top. Oh , the techniques you would witness! Records were made then broken, ladies were ironing the plastic bags at home. Fun.

That plant now is really huge. I only just saw that new distribution building . The scale of the buildings is  unlike any other manufacturing buildings on the Seacoast. ( Amazing that  huge complex uses Exeter’s water & sewer system, amazing)

I think a better effort could have been made on the temporary store, just  in the spirit of the holidays. It really is austere and not what you expect or are looking for  in Holiday treats.”Oh Auntie thank you for the broken chocolate bits!” Those 7 missing( there is  some discussion going on here regarding the extent of  my culpability on the missing bars) candy bars were not even wrapped  in holiday foils! A big outfit like Lindt might have  splurged a bit on the space. So head over to the factory and the “nice store” if you are buying a holiday gift.

merry merry
