Mass. company to build new wood power plant in N.H.
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — A Boston company wants to tear down the former Bio Energy facility in Hopkinton and build a $100 million wood burning power plant.
The Concord Monitor says that Diagnostic Inc. would also build 20 acres of greenhouses that would be fueled with excess heat and carbon dioxide from the power plant.
Diagnostic CEO Richard Rosen says the new facility would be the same size as the existing plant but would produce twice as much power.
The facility would create 200 jobs and pay almost $2 million a year in property taxes.
Rosen says the greenhouses could grow produce that could have as much value as the electricity.
Rosen says the project won’t move forward unless there is a consensus in Hopkinton that it should be built.

This story is making the rounds ,it originated with the Concord Monitor.
I can find no such company nor executive in Boston. This is a trial balloon news story, a press release. These stories in such an economic atmosphere are not useful. Millions to grow vegetables in greenhouses, in NH?. Jobs, Green, they try and hit all the buttons. Have your heard the news about windmills, it’s unreal. Those giant windmills that we all want , we are finding something out. You don’t want a wind farm as a neighbor. Why? The noise, whump, whump, whump, I guess it’s wicked annoying. Maybe as annoying as 40 trailer loads a day of wood chips.
State Stuff
Let’s dump the Executive Council quick before Sununu takes a seat. It’s so archaic, and weird. We need an executive in the State.
I also agree totally with the Governor speaking today on consolidating social services. No group is any more “special ” than another.
We have an Ernest T Bass problem in NH . That’s the issue with the prisons and recidivism. It is the low level stuff that costs us a bundle. E. Dinan writes about it every day in Portsmouth for the Herald.
Cross Roads House should be reserved for women & children only.
The New Frugality also requires a New Perspective.
Summer is coming! Will we be ready to welcome all the visitors, what if the Summer is actually the best ever for weather? Gas was reported to be 3 bucks this coming Summer. Are we ready?
Did any State legislator propose a program to insure the visitors have a wonderful experience?
A State Parks Works Program , work with the the AMC to get a fast start. Trail workers, campground workers.
How about a fee based dog watching service at Monadnock. I have seen couples pull up to pay the fee and get told “sorry no dogs” “You can’t leave the dog in the car either while you climb”
Ideas.
We have all this great terrain and it should be promoted as accessible.
