We joined a CSA this Summer and planted a garden. Doozie loves  gathering fresh lettuce, I see her coming around the corner often, beaming. It did not require much effort as a dear friend NE frugal gardener provided us with some  plants and  these easy  folding   bed boxes.

This house was once owned by the folks that owned Results Fitness. I guess they also had a restaurant at the  site. When  we bought 20 odd years ago,  the backyard had a huge  garden plot that they used for the business. Huge. So we planted it one Summer, it had several rows of corn too. One night we heard a  ruckus and got the kids up to watch seemingly  every raccoon in Exeter  devour the garden. They would wander  close to the screen door  swaying drunkenly, eating only half an ear of corn, tossing it aside to munch on the  watermelon under their arm,  then diving back in for more. The kids were so jazzed watching this,  screaming every time the raccoons would  come to the door . It was a great night  and my days of  weeding this truck patch were over.

Life.

It was and is  so much fun. All of it.

The lettuce plants on the right just went in this am  they were from seed.

Check out the frugal gardener’s blog today. She has a wealth of knowledge to share  on gardening and is pure NH with a UK detour.
