I got a call for comment on the water sewer rate increases. My understanding is the article will appear  tomorrow  in Seacoast Sunday.   Last Wednesday in Stratham I had made mention of  an opinion piece that appeared in last Sundays Herald. It was  written by a team, one of these co-author pieces. Nutshell? They are  questioning science in the face of “looming” rate increases. Looming is a good word to inject dread  into the discussion. “We can’t raise rates now with the economy in the crapper.”

You  pay next to nothing for water & sewer, and the bill is due. The bill that your Dad ignored. Yea, I am injecting some blame for  basically ignoring infrastructure for  50 + years.

In some locales in the USA they have bans on fertilizer, lawn chemicals.

Not here, 20 lawn fertilizer  guys showed up in Concord and killed any action.

20

You could make alot more dough  selling  lawn  services employing green methods ,more  potential customers.

The  Iphone  data plan is how much? Comcast?

Taxes and  rates for W&S are going up and  we will have to be adults and recognize  that  reality. Stop buying bottled water, it’s stupid if you are on a Municipal Water System. Conserve  water.

In about 1904 the USA  really got busy with Municipal Water Systems, halving  death rates, infant mortality plummeted, lost days at work fell.

We have  simply ignored our  most basic system and no amount  of maneuvering will avoid the bill.

I wrote recently that the Tappan Zee Bridge needs replacing,16 billion. It was built during the Korean War, in a time of shortages. It was only supposed to last 50 years. Is anyone going to argue that  replacement is simply New York’s  business?

It’s time to cease the practice of  leaving it to the next guy.
