Turn on Channel 22 now, the Selectmen’s Meeting. What a blunder and really some overwrought behavior. It’s difficult for me to fathom why  this vacation plan  moved an inch. Mr Aldrich just made a motion……… clapping? Will there be clapping????

Nervous laughter.

Send around some fruit baskets?

I  want to think about Sylvia’s suggestion that any changes will “only apply to new hires”. An aside,  it was  thrilling to see her so jazzed,  Wow!. I have  heard this echo recently in a discussion I had  regarding public school employees.

The tack being taken with the Public is simple.

“You promised”.

It’s effective really, makes you squirm in your seat a bit.

It’s possible that if we begin tinkering with  these institutions it will be difficult to fill the jobs. I have told this tale previously. I had occasion many years ago to sit with a young fellow  employed in Municipal Government, a quiet moment. I put it to him, why, why this job, the pay sucks right? ”  “The pension” was his answer. That’s not a knock  by me, that  was his  answer.  “Really, the pension?” I never would have figured that. I couldn’t do it. We are lucky that some gravitate to such paced occupations.

We essentially ask for it all to be done for a song.

The bus driver is making how much?
