First Friday Coffeehouse 2/4/11

Musicians, poets, groundhogs, snowbirds, birds that stay, folks that could  use some serious humor to wake up the soul:

The First Friday Coffeehouse is proud to present the harmonic sounds of  Nice and Naughty, a tour de force women’s duo (sometimes trio when the omnipresent Neal Zweig is in the house). Nice and Naughty is composed of Cheryl Sager, vocals, stand-up bass, guitar, and Peg Chaffee, vocals, guitar, and have been performing in various musical enterprises including a rhythm and blues troupe, a folk duo, trio, quartet, you name it. Peg and Cheryl have honed a lovely sound with their distinct, tight harmonies and up beat humorous tunes, ballads, and original material. They do wonderful version of Cheryl Wheeler’s “When Fall Comes to New England” among others.Their harmonies soar, what can I say. Visit their myspace page if you want to get a sample of their sound:

I hope you can make it this Friday as it is one to catch for the sheer joy of the music. In one of their incarnations, Cheryl and Peg used to perform in the women’s folk ensemble, Labrys. The group’s reunion compact disc had a cover picture of 4 ladies in what appeared to be a jungle with minimal apparel, it may have been illusionary, not sure. It appears that Cheryl and Peg enjoyed the effects of the photograph and kept it for the two of them pictured out of the four. Now they’re pictured below as the incomparable Nice and Naughty.

Tell a friend and see you soon (keep your humor about you- who knows, the groundhog might not see his shadow this Wednesday on account of all the snow that’s sitting above his head blocking the sun.) Maybe we’ll have an early spring by default?
