JUSTIN CHOUINARD FOR SELECTMAN

I first met Justin and his wife Sara about a year ago. I took an immediate liking to them both; Sara being a Saint Anselm’s graduate majoring in philosophy and I had some good laughs over my C’s and her A’s in the subject. I picked on her a little telling her, “you might beat me on philosophy but I would have taken you on criminal investigation”. Politically, I found Justin’s political philosophy was of less government; less spending (putting more money back in the taxpayers’ pockets) and let people make decisions about their lives and not be dictated to by government.
Justin volunteered and was appointed to the Exeter Budget Committee and, from most accounts, did an excellent job of voting against spending issues that Exeter could not afford at this time, issues that would have raised all of our property taxes. I have been told that Justin’s opponent voted for most of the issues (that would have raised taxes)Justin voted against; his opponent is not what Exeter needs or wants. It was obvious Justin’s fiscally conservative philosophy was in the mainstream of what Exeter needs and what Exeter wants, LOWER TAXES.
It is really sad when some of the less sane members of Exeter have been attacking Justin and Sara for living in an apartment while looking to buy a house in Exeter. The implication that they make is, and they tried to use this argument against Matt when he ran for selectman, if you do not own property in Exeter you are unqualified to run for office. Under this ridiculous mud slinging tactic, our local senator should not run for office because she lives in academy housing, nor should anyone who lives in an apartment or academy housing. For the academy housing and benefits, I have been told, are factored in to the salary (which I have also been told isn’t that great), just as taxes are factored into the rent for an apartment. Under this philosophy no one living in manufactured housing or work force housing or the academy should be able to run for office; the elitist attitude of only the people who meet some evasive financial elitist criteria need apply is quite sad and goes against the grain of what main stream Exeter is all about.
We are all tired of the last campaigns nastiness; Justin has stayed above that sticking to the issues that are important to all us, less government and reducing spending=less property taxes, while providing the important services we have come to depend on. Justin and Sara, I always mention Sara because I so respect their family values and love for each other and understand that behind most good men is a better woman. I also understand how each of their lives are intertwined with each others endeavors it would be unfair to both of them not to recognize the Chouinard team as a unit.
In this campaign please know your A B C houinard and please vote for Justin for selectman. A young man and young couple we can depend on trust to represent us and understand couples like Justin and Sara are the future of Exeter.

I would have gone with a picture of a broken clock (correct time twice a day), but politics sometimes makes strange — and temporary — bedfellows.

Not to dispute this, but Ms. Johnson pointed out that she supported Selectman Aldrich in 2009. Somehow I don’t see that happening again. Sometimes people change as well!

I guess people do change….., since “Julie” has plastered her signs with Matt Quandt signs, I can only guess desperation makes us change bedfellows quickly…another former post from Lee Quandt’s website seems appropriate….
DITZY CHICKS
We have a new vocal group in Exeter that I call the DITZY CHICKS. Their main song is, give me all your money, give me all your money, give me all your money, honey. It seems that Maggie, Julie and Donna as they are known to non spending music lovers have one thought in mind and that is to spend money; YOUR MONEY/OUR MONEY.
At the Exeter deliberative session there seemed to be a steady theme of spend, spend, and when your bored let’s spend some more. They want us to authorize up to 4 million dollars in matching funds to finance projects that the town either has voted down in the past or the project was withdrawn so the voters would not vote it down, like the new town office building proposal. No matter how you look at this 4 million is still a lot of money to raise on our property tax camel’s back system; referencing the straw that broke the camel’s back.
We are now in a trend, nationally and locally; where when you’re in debt, spend your way out of it. At face value this does not pass the common sense test or the smell test.
As a country we are so far in debt that what is facing us can only be described as catastrophic in nature. We are facing a depression that makes the 1930’s look like a minor monetary correction. This is not the scare and fear tactics put out by the democrat socialist liberals who blame everything on George Bush (who was not a fiscal conservative). Bush’s spending habits got the republicans in trouble because they did not have the courage to stop or even slow down the spending train. Bush is gone and the socialists have taken over, this will probably put the death nail in the American way of life as we know it. Unfortunately, the U.S will probably be facing bankruptcy with U.S money close to worthless, especially if the Chinese and Arabs dump U.S dollars.
So whether it is on a national level or our musical local level, I predict we are in trouble.
