“Your Victory garden was delicious, really that spinach was to die for!”
From Bob Moore
Poets, musicians, Ground Hog Day anticipators, folks looking for a good
reason to break their February cabin fever:
This Friday, the First Friday Coffeehouse is pleased to feature two fine New
Hampshire poets: Joann Snow Duncanson and Neil English. Joann spent much of
her career as a journalist, first as a humorous verse editor and later as a
newspaper columnist for the Peterborough Transcript. Joann has a rebellious
wit that reveals itself in her poetry and prose. Fine examples of her
talented writing can be found in a collaborative publication entitled
“Breakfast in the Bathtub, A Book of Smiles” co-written with Fred Samuels.
For more information on Joann’s publications, here is the link
Neil English is a performance poet who has been featured in many venues
throughout New Hampshire and Maine. When Neil delivers his original poetry
in front of an audience, you might think you were listening to the likes of
a parish minister, Pennsylvania Dutchman, and Maine lobsterman all rolled
into one. His dry delivery and artful storytelling is hard to describe but
very compelling and borders on the spiritual. He has a knack for wooing a
crowd with his simplicity and originality. For a taste of Neil’s work, he
was featured in a New Hampshire Poet Showcase in September 2007. More about
Neil and his poem entitled “Sneak Preview” can be found, here
Quick reminder: The theme this month (February) is Mardi Gras. You’re
encouraged to dress up for the occasion so come as someone else or come as
you are.
See you soon!,
