Doozie grabbed a moose pic with her blackberry on the Hampton Road last week .( not a file photo)
The bald eagle sighting in Exeter without a pic is funny, to me. This bird is a recluse for sure. The bald eagle is a resident of Great Bay, the Merrimack River also has resident birds.
Kyle was up a few weeks ago to do some filming on the water accompanied by some other film students from Emerson College.
The little boat was fairly bristling with lenses, film cameras, digital slr’s, my little point and shoot was someplace.
“Ready when you are C.B! ” ( that’s the punchline from an old and very long joke)

Kyle doing some instructing .

We cleared the RR bridge leaving the Squamscott and I looked over to the Lamprey River to get my bearings( no buoys out yet) and spotted the white head of the bald eagle on the banking, sitting pretty on a driftwood snag. He saw us too.
Oh we got close, kinda nosing along the bank ,Kyle furiously working on the bow, others digging in knapsacks for cameras, that bird took one look at our circus and with maybe 5 flaps of his wings was gone. We got nothing. It was a hoot! He teased us on the way back in too, still no pic. The great bald eagle quest begins in earnest now, who will get something better than a file photo? Keep a camera handy while out walking near the Squamscott.
The Bay was lousy with seals that morning.

These guys weren’t seasick , they were pooped. College kids don’t sleep, its quite remarkable they function as well as they do on such few hours of rest.

Kyle has accepted the projectionist position at the Empire Movie Theater on Block Island this Summer! He gets to live in the theater too, there is an apartment. How cool is that ?

Mike, Just a note on your eagle comment. The are not really as recluse as you indicated. I have a camp in Maine and I have numerous pictures of them (including babies) and I get quite close in a boat when they are in trees…also I have pictures on display at the Provident Bank and I have one of 2 bald eagles that I got very close to a couple of years ago. Just and FYI… 🙂

I was joking about this particular bird. I will have to get down to the bank to see your pics.On a trip to Alaska not long ago we stopped oohing and ahhing early on regarding eagles, they were as numerous as pigeons.Try and get a pic of this bird for the Crier.
