Disbarred. One of those “just the facts” articles in Today’s paper. This story is sadly quite common. It comes up often it seems here in NH, and elsewhere. The Bar Association really should give up this self regulation farce. This was an ongoing issue and the Town should have been informed.
Mike
Morse was always a lousy lawyer, giving the town lousy advice, but that’s a separate issue. The town should have been informed of what? How do you know the town wasn’t kept informed? Besides, the town is (was) just one of his clients. You should probably explain what you mean by “farce”? Its also not exactly self-regulation, since the supreme court enforces the rules. Do you have an alternative?

lawyer steals client accounts
You don’t need to do a search for overcharging on trust management.
My alternative? Physicians and Lawyers enjoy a layer of protection that the rest of us do not. Most of the stories have delays between the problem coming to a head and real action by the authorities. That foot dragging occurs within the associations .I assume you are a peer and I am surprised at your assessment of his capabilities. If that was a commonly held opinion then change should have come sooner.

Try any search term involving any occupation and “stealing.” Sometimes, Mr. Google isn’t the answer.
There are lousy lawyers practicing law. There are lousy plumbers practicing plumbing. There are lousy what-ever-you-do doing whatever you do. And sometimes they steal, in addition to being lousy.
“Most of the stories have delays between the problem coming to a head and real action by the authorities. That foot dragging occurs within the associations.”
With all due respect, you have no idea what you’re talking about. At least that’s how it sounds. A large number of disciplinary files are open to the public. Check them out sometime.
“Most of the stories” (as you put it) are written by people who “hate lawyers,” but never seem to have a factual basis for making broad generalizations based on isolated conduct.
That’s a dangerous and slippery slope.

I love the you don’t know what you are talking about comment . I hear that alot. It rolls right off my back. You might at the next Bar meeting suggest a course of action to disbar all the attorneys that you feel are lousy or prone to stealing. I would appreciate it.
“Dangerous slope” Geesh I never called the poor disbarred fellow a lousy lawyer. I guess only another lawyer can say that. Since I just had a brush with the Courts I am done with this conversation. Especially when a lawyer begins threatening.
If you need a good plumber call Jimmy Groetz.

Threatening? I’m sorry that you feel “threatened” when challenged to back up an assertion.

This is funny, but so many have called and missed your clever? play on Perry Mason. Would we have more frank discussions if we all wore paper bags over our heads?
Doozie could not pick Burr out of a lineup.
I stand by my assertion that professional associations regularly and to the detriment of their
“good & qualified ” members do not move fast enough to discipline and remove bad actors. There is ample evidence to support that opinion.

Perhaps you are right. Even though you are guessing. But who removes the bad actors in other businesses? That was my original point.
