Summertime Mary Cassatt 1894
A note from Bob Moore,
Poets, guitarists, teachers downshifting into the regenerative days of summer, composers of work yet to be composed:
Summertime and the living is easier. Sun-worshippers are flocking to the beach, hikers are chipping away at the 4000 foot club, and road crews are out doing road repairs and motioning cars, motorcycles, and cyclists in one direction or another. Remember, the act of texting while driving is hazardous to your health. So consider getting back to the writing or reading you need to be doing while driving, and leave the driving to your subconscious. It’s a creative time of year. Why not spend it behind the wheel. Writing on a motorcycle might be a little tricky. Wear a helmet for safety’s sake.
We have two featured performers for this Friday’s coffeehouse. Poet, writer Eric L. Marsh is a long-time patron of the coffeehouse and is a published author. He is a compulsive writer dedicated to his craft. He has two books of fiction and attends many open-mike readings on the NH seacoast and the Lakes region. Jon Godfrey is a singer, guitarist from Candia, NH. He is also a long-time supporter and participant of the coffeehouse and performs acoustic-driven songs with a honest interpretation of the song. More on Jon and Eric are found below:
Eric L. Marsh, is a published author of two books of fiction. He’s a poet, and also writes in the genre called flash fiction. Eric’s modus operandi is to write every day, and discover themes that emerge through the creative process. Themes that are generated through this method of writing become pieces of fiction, or perhaps lead to the birth of a new poem. Eric has been coming to the First Friday Coffeehouse for at least two years now. He is a humorist, a dramatist, and a performance poet. He lives in Belmont, NH next door to Laconia.
Jon Godfrey is a guitarist, singer from Candia, NH. He has a knack for performing songs of the 70’s the 80’s and 90’s in an acoustic delivery that is true to the original work. He performs songs by John Gorka, Danny O’Keefe, and other artists that take you back to a time when they were first hitting the pop charts. Jon is the director of the Candia Public Library. Because he’s enjoyed coming to the First Friday Coffeehouse, he’s worked out a deal in his work schedule to actually manage coming to Exeter on Friday’seven though he may have been originally scheduled to work on Fridays. That is what one calls a commitment to craft. Jon is a pleasure to listen to. I hope you can check out his sound. The coffeehouse begins at 7:30 PM.
Sign-up for the open-mike begins at 6:30 PM. Open-mike starts at 8:30 PM. Tell a friend, bring a dessert and we’ll see you this Friday, July 1.
