A note from Bob Moore.
Poets, guitarists, beach-goers, surfers, mountaineers able to come down from the mountain and spend an evening in the flatland:
As in July, we have two featured performers for this Friday’s coffeehouse. Tito Mambo is a roots musician who loves the rock and roll era of the 60’s an early 70’s. He also likes to write tunes with his wife Carol, and is anenigmatic performer. He encourages audiences to sing (even if you don’t know the words), and you might even be tempted to get up and dance. Jon Godfrey was scheduled to perform last month but was unable to get his guitar out of the repair shop, so we’ve invited him to perform in one of the feature spots this month. More on Tito and Jon below:
Tito Mambo has been a regular at the First Friday Coffeehouse. He’s changed his sound recently from acoustic to electric, and performs retro-rock songs reminiscent of the Animals, The Turtles, and old rock and roll classics like “We Got to Get out of this Place”. Tito also co-writes with his wife Carol and he performs their songs in his famous energetic style. Tito is a force to be reckoned with.
Jon Godfrey is a guitarist, singer from Candia, NH. He has a knack for performing songs of the 70’s the 80’s and 90’s in an acoustic delivery that is true to the original work. He performs songs by John Gorka, DannyO’Keefe, and other artists that take you back to a time when they were first hitting the pop charts. Jon is the director of the Candia Public Library. Because he’s enjoyed coming to the First Friday Coffeehouse, he’s worked out a deal in his work schedule to actually manage coming to Exeter on Friday’s even though he may have been originally scheduled to work on Fridays. That is what one calls a commitment to craft. Jon is a pleasure to listen to. I hope you can check out his sound.
The coffeehouse begins at 7:30 PM.
Sign-up for the open-mike begins at 6:30 PM. Open-mike starts at 8:30 PM.
