Pileated Woodpecker

A very fast flyer and poor photo subject for  one without a view finder. “Quick get the camera!” This specimen measured a full 20″ from stem to stern( I actually measured  that scar, the ladder was out for some window washing anyway) which represents a fully mature bird.

  1. Mike,
On the bird subject, I saw what looked like a bald eagle this morning above the river along the Swazey. There was another guy taking pictures so it makes me think it was an eagle. Have you heard any similar reports??

  2. I have not of late, however the Bald Eagle is a resident of the Great Bay Watershed and has been seen fishing along the Swasey Parkway. The Osprey too will dive for fish in the detention pond.
