I just took a few snaps in our lovely downtown of the sidewalks. I did this because the article in today’s Portsmouth Herald ticked me off a bit. I feel the article was a unnecessary bit of journalism and guess what you can trip in your slippers on carpet in your own home, ask my Aunt. So here are the pictures of the sidewalks that has a reporter writing a huge article that is considered by the editors as pressing news.
I think the very poor job of snow removal this past Winter , leaving mountains of hard packed snow to climb over was a far worse situation for elderly citizens.
No excuses please.
This is a photo record of the entire Water St area, not a few selected pics, we will vote on this in March and it will get fixed. If there is a problem it will be that some will want to brick them , or bury utilities, makeover the whole area, that will kill the warrant article. It is obvious the patch jobs are atrocious in their execution .
So lets just get it done.
I expected prior to my stroll to find many more rough areas and obvious trip hazards, I did not.
The absence of curbing to remind the driver to stop in many areas is of more concern to me than the surface conditions.
