I know everyone enjoyed reading trail updates from our son Jeff or “Ichabod” (his trail name) as he completed a through hike on the Appalachian Trail in 2010.
2010, seems like yesterday, to me.
Those stories are all here and get read often.
Jeff has been taking a regular breather this year from running a public library in Springfield MA, to complete another hiking milestone. Whenever he had some time off he would often head North, to the mountains.
You simply can’t take the woods out of the man. I awoke this morning to this latest note from Jeff in my inbox.
I climbed my final five 4000 footers this weekend in the Whites, finishing this morning on top of Mt. Carrigain. There were a couple of guys who were also finishing their list when I got to the summit, and they let me use their sign.
I also had a gray jay land in the palm of my hand!
Here’s a view from Signal Ridge on the way down.
