GREAT BAY KIDS’ COMPANY SET TO BREAK GROUND ON EPPING ROAD
EXETER, NH- Great Bay Kids’ Company (GBKC), a local non-profit child-care provider, has
finalized the purchase of the site of its new facility on Epping Road in Exeter and is preparing to
break ground on their 14,000 square foot facility in January 2015. Over the past few months, Great
Bay Kids’ Company has worked closely with the Exeter Planning Board and the Town Planner to
obtain the necessary approvals and permits required to construct the facility.
“This is a new day for the agency – a really exciting stage in our growth,” said Mark Paige, GBKC
Chair of the Board of Directors and professor of Education Policy & Analysis at UMASS
Dartmouth. “We have a forty year history in Exeter and we are pleased that we are firmly rooting
ourselves here for decades to come,” he added.
“We’ve now dotted all I’s and crossed all the T’s. This project is shovel ready,” said Meg Bateman,
Secretary of the GBKC Board of Directors and corporate attorney with the McLane Law Firm in
Manchester, NH. The new facility will be completed by fall 2015.
Great Bay Kids’ Company currently provides care for toddlers to school age children, ages 2 to 12,
in Exeter. After completion, Great Bay Kids’ Company will be able to provide care for infants and
young toddlers as well.
“Great Bay Kids’ is committed to providing quality affordable care for area families, including
infants and young toddlers,” noted Wendy Monroe Executive Director. “With this facility we are
fulfilling that commitment.” The recently opened Georgetown Bank in Stratham and the New Hampshire Community Loan
Fund in Concord were instrumental in helping finance the project. Additional project partners
include DeStefano Architects PLLC, in Portsmouth for architectural design, Martini Northern, in
Portsmouth for construction management services and John Turner Consulting, Inc. for civil
engineering services. GBKC remains located at 13 School Street, in Exeter until the project is
complete.
